Sixty-six years after Jackson Pollock pioneered the practice of drip painting, an American artist has made a groundbreaking improvement to Abstract Expressionism, creating a new version that simultaneously eliminates the need for eyesight and intellect. By special arrangement, team titanic will exhibit a dozen canvases by Jonathon Keats beginning on 31 May. The paintings are expected to induce a broad range of emotions including rage, frustration, and disgust.
"Abstract Expressionism is an emotional art form," says Mr. Keats, "But Abstract Expressionists like Pollock and Rothko didn't really know how to make us feel what they felt. Quite frankly, their paintings just illustrated their emotions."
Further on Mr. Keats says: "These paintings are as raw as can be." They need none of the cultural conditions - or curatorial contextualization - that previous generations relied on for meaning." A Cro-Magnon would respond to my paintings as strongly as an art historian."
